Still life with a knife, circa 1950/1960 – blue light and very thick impasto.

Beautiful kitchen still life: pitcher, glazed bowls, pestle, fruits (lemon, orange, pomegranate) placed on an inclined surface. The scene is bathed in a cold bluish light, streaked with turquoise, purple and yellow reflections. The material is very generous: large knife cuts, superimposed blades, dough worked into ridges and ridges that catch the light.

Painting from the Second School of Paris, 1950s: vibrant chromatism and construction using colored planes. Light comes from color itself; blue dominates, energized by lemon and magenta accents. The impasto, assertive and sculptural, places the work in the post-Fauvist and expressionist heritage: thick reliefs, knife rhythms, scraped passages revealing underlying layers. The whole produces a real material presence, between free figuration and surface abstraction.

Good decorative condition. Thick stable impasto, small workshop marks and micro-chips from use on the edges; some occasional rubbing consistent with age. Healthy canvas and marouflage. Ready to hang.
